About

I love food, it’s really as simple as that.
Eating it, reading about it, cooking it, talking about, you name it, I love it.
I started this blog in 2007 and posted very sporadically, mostly because I was hung up on trying to find the focus of what I wanted to talk about. This blog has gone through many iterations — recipes, food musings, bentos, weight loss — and in the end I’ve realized that each has its place and that I don’t have to pick “the” perfect theme. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year (2009) that I started making a more serious effort at blogging and realized that as long as I was writing about what made me happy, then that was the main thing.
You’ll find that many of the recipes have a slant towards Indian/South Asian cooking. Well, this is because I come from a South Asian background, so for me those kinds of foods are my comfort food. Making these dishes is a way for me to keep connected with my culture and to nourish not only my soul but my husband and me!
Another thing you may find that I talk about a lot is losing weight. Unfortunately, I don’t do such a good job of it!
I have battled the diet demons on and off since my freshman year of high school. I’m almost 30 now, so this has taken up half my life! The past 5 or 6 years has seen me on the losing side of this battle and I just haven’t been able to find that spark and keep it going. Knowing that many of you have also gone through this, I have found it very helpful and motivating to read other people’s journeys and to write about my own.
So in a nutshell, this blog is a journey about food and all the ways it impacts my life.
Enjoy!
