Alexia Fries “Reinvent a Classic” Challenge

by spiceaholic on July 7, 2011

Ohhh, those people at Alexia Foods sure know how to get inside my head!

I’m a french fry lover in general and I especially love the convenience of frozen french fries — all I have to do is bake them in a hot oven and then I have a blank potato canvas with which to experiment with different flavors.   So you can imagine how excited I was when the folks at Alexia contacted me about a great opportunity — help them come up with a new flavor!

Last year at the 2010 FoodBuzz Blogger Festival, we were able to sample 4 possible new flavors in Alexia’s frozen fry line.   Of these, 1 was finally chosen after nationwide voting and the winner will debut this fall.

Well, they’re at it again!  This year, Alexia has teamed up with food bloggers to help create the next new flavor.  We will be playing around with different types of potatoes, cuts, and flavors to come up with a winning combination.  The top 4 finalists will get an all expense paid trip to the 2011 FoodBuzz Blogger Festival to present their flavors to fellow food bloggers.   After that, nationwide voting will determine the winner, who will receive $2,500 and have their creation become part of the Alexia product line.

I am so excited to be a part of this challenge!  I’ve been coming up with a list of ideas to try out over the next few weeks and can’t wait to see how they turn out — stay tuned for my progress posts!  You can also see how the challenge unfolds through the Alexia Foods Facebook page or via Twitter using #AlexiaFoods.

I have my ideas churning away, but what winning combination would YOU create?

Disclaimer: Alexia Foods is compensating me for my time and expenses while participating in this challenge, however any opinions expressed on Spice’s Bites are my own.
