I told you I wouldn’t be posting much these days . . .
Work has been insanely crazy busy. Not to bore you too much with tax talk, but in the spring tax season most returns ended up getting extensions filed for 6 months and that’s how I end up being swamped in the spring and fall. So returns that are due 3/15 get extended to 9/15 and returns due 4/15 get extended to 10/15. Of course this year things changed — now partnership and trust returns that normally had a 10/15 extended due date were due 9/15 so more stuff had to get done.
We were so busy that they decided to have us come in to work on Labor Day and we’ll get that day off on 10/16 instead. And I ended up getting sick last weekend but brave little trooper that I am, I came in Saturday to pick up work to take home instead of being miserable and spreading my germs in the office. I worked from bed on Sunday, came in Labor Day and worked all of this past week and yesterday. I’ve been working Saturdays since I started here and I will be so happy when I get them back.
Ugh. So in addition to the long days and being sick, I hadn’t done groceries and was eating out for lunch and dinner every day. Today I had a bit of a break and we stocked up on some food and I managed to get some cooking in.
And miracle of miracles, I packed my lunch for Monday.
I haven’t packed a lunch in a bento box in FOREVER, so I’m a little rusty.
I have mesquite turkey, chipotle jack, and some lettuce in a garlic and herb tortilla, cut up all cute and arranged on some more lettuce. Then I have some fresh raspberries and dark chocolate-roasted almonds. And a mango stick hiding near the lid.
Hopefully once Tuesday comes, work will lighten up a bit and I’ll be able to post again. Our 5th wedding anniversary is Friday and Eid is going to Sunday (I think!) so lots of good stuff coming up this week! 😀
