I tell you, I have got to get back on the cooking wagon. Eating out for lunch and/or dinner most days is not good for the wallet or waistline.
Anyway . . .
Mr. Spice and I decided to meet for dinner in Vinings, not too far from where we live. There’s lots of cute shops and great places to eat, but somehow we don’t go there as often as we like.
We ended up at FIGO Pasta, which has locations throughout Atlanta. The concept is simple — pick a pasta and pick a sauce. The food is good and the prices are easy on the wallet, so it’s a good combination.
Mr. Spice wanted me to pick his food for him, so I ordered him the braised short rib ravioli with arrabiata sauce. I already knew which sauce I wanted, so my choice was easy: their new paprika penne with their pecorino and lemon sauce, plus some grilled chicken to add on top.
Food comes out quickly, so we didn’t order any appetizers. But we did enjoy their bread dipped in olive oil while we waited.
I didn’t get a pic of Mr. Spice’s food, but here’s mine:
The sauce is very rich, pecorino romano cheese, some cream (eek!), and lemon zest, so I only ate about half of this. As you can see I spiked it with some crushed red pepper for extra heat! 🙂
After dinner, since we were in the area, I wanted to hit up this new frozen yogurt place called Yoforia. I love that we’re getting all sorts of frozen yogurt and cupcake places here now! Makes for new places to try!
Yoforia is basically a self-serve frozen yogurt bar. You go in, grab a cup (they are HUGE) and choose from several flavors of frozen yogurt. You control how much and what you get. Then you can get toppings and then you weigh and pay. Brilliant.
We have only been here once before, and I remembered the dark chocolate and ferrero rocher (chocolate and hazelnut) flavors were good. But I wanted to try some other flavors too. So I did! I got a little bit of green tea, pomegranate, dark chocolate, and ferrero rocher. I wasn’t going to get any toppings but I spied some fresh lychees and had to get some.
I told you the cups are huge! I can’t even imagine filling this thing up!
Clockwise from top: pomegranate, green tea, ferrero rocher, and dark chocolate. And 2 lychees.
I didn’t care for the green tea flavor, liked the pomegranate, really liked the ferrero rocher, and was fro-yoed out by the time I tasted the dark chocolate. The lychees made a nice finishing touch.
I can tell you that with summer upon us, we might be making more trips here this summer!
I recently asked readers on the Spice’s Bites Facebook page what they to see more of. The consensus was daily eats and recipes, but I got a request for more pics of Chloe. I am more than happy to oblige! And stay tuned for the recipes and daily eats to start up again!
Have a great weekend!
