Fun news!

by spiceaholic on January 18, 2010

I have been so excited to share this news with you guys!

As you know, I am a big fan of bento boxes for several reasons — portion control, visual appeal, and less waste, among others.

A few months ago, I ordered my very first Laptop Lunch set from Obentec.  I had seen pictures of all sorts of great lunches packed in them on several bento sites and thought they were so cute!  What a great way to pack several items in one place without having to lug different sized boxes around.  And not to mention the versatility — you can swap out the inner compartments to custom-create a configuration you like.

Well, a short while back, I was contacted by Obentec to see if I was interested in joining their Laptop Lunches Affiliate program.  I definitely was!  I’ve had people ask me about the sets and I’m always more than happy to tell them where I get them from.   Now that I’m a part of the program, it’s even easier.  Spice’s Bites readers now have  a coupon code to use when they place an order from www.laptoplunches.com that will give you 10% off your order! You can use the coupon code below or the one that appears on my side bar.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will tell you that I will also receive 10% of each sale.  But I’m just excited that now I have a way to share my enthusiasm.  🙂

Well, I went through a little bento phase a while back and found that the portion control was too little food for what I was eating…and I have a drawer full of bentos I no longer use! There’s one I want to hang on to, but would you like them?? Email me if you want ’em 🙂

To help with losing weight, a friend of mine is suggesting I use Flavor Magic Portion Control Sheets, which she describes as basically a portioning guide that also seasons meat and fish with tasty spices. Kind of like the “palm of hand” rule, but more accurate. Does anyone have input on this one? She claims it is working for her with home cooking. I want to give it a shot but it looks like it is only available online.

Mara — that is so kind of you to offer! I think Mr. Spice will leave (or kill) me if I get any more bentos. I bet you could sell them on Ebay.

Roseanne – sorry, I’ve never heard of those.

Brandi — thanks! I’m very excited about it!
