Quite literally, as you will soon see! 🙂
Happy Friday, everyone!
I’m considering switching up my breakfast next week, but it is nice to have the same thing every day, since I already know how many points it is and because I know it will hold me until lunch. We shall see.
We had some tax research training this morning (bleh) and then our boss decided to treat us all to lunch at F20 (wohoo!), so the little bento box of jambalaya leftovers will just have to wait in the fridge.
Now despite how healthy it sounds, you have to watch out when you order stuff at F20. Those panini sandwiches, entrees, and salads will zing you quite badly, as I’ve found out a few times. I decided to get a half salad half soup combo. Yes, that is HALF a salad. I got the Southwestern salad, which comes with greens, tomatoes, cheese, tortilla strips, southwestern dressing, craisins, and rasins. And a sweet roll. You order proteins separately. I think the only healthy things on the salad were the greens and the grilled chicken breast I got. I don’t like sweet things in savory salads, so I nixed the craisins and raisins, and the dressing came on the side. I also got some chicken tortilla soup, but didn’t finish it since it tasted almost buttery. But it was a free lunch, so I won’t complain too much more!
A few hours later, I got hungry as usual. I had an undocumented bag of Weight Watchers Cheddar Twists and a Special K protein snack bar a few hours later.
I usually don’t buy the snack products at WW meetings, but the twists were on sale, and these are one of the few items I like, probably because they are so dang salty and cheesy.
When it was near quitting time, Mr. Spice and I played our usual rounds of “what do you want to do? I don’t care, pick something. No, you pick something . . .” Since he was out of the house today, we decided to meet up at one of our favorite burger places — The Vortex.
If you are ever in Atlanta, you must go here if you want an awesome burger. But don’t forget to invite me along! There are two locations, one in the Little Five Points neighborhood, which has an awesome skull entrance, or the one in Midtown that we usually go to since it’s closer for us.
I think I can count the number of times I’ve ordered something other than a burger one two hands. Once was a salad, and you just do not do that when you go to the Vortex. The other times, it’s been their spicy firehouse chili which is REALLY good. Mr. Spice and I usually order the Ragin’ Cajun burgers. I get mine as a turkey burger to try to pretend I’m being healthier. Tonight I insisted I would take a picture for you guys, despite the fact that it’s so dark in there that I had to use the flash and risk drawing attention to myself. Mr. Spice hid in the bathroom while I took the pic so he wouldn’t be embarrassed. Pfft.
That is happiness on a plate. I have tried asking what they put in their Cajun sauce, but the waiters either have no clue or are really good at playing dumb. Oh well, I’ll just have to keep ordering it to figure it out. Wonder of wonders, tonight I did not finish my food. Once upon a time when I was skinnier, I would only eat half and take the rest home. Over time, I’ve evolved to devouring the whole plate and feeling stuffed afterwards. Tonight, I realized I had hit my limit and I stopped. Progress, my friends.
After dinner, we did our usual lame post-dinner going to a bookstore routine. I got to catch up on my gossip mags and used up the rest of a birthday gift-card on a couple books — The Lovely Bones and The Girls of Riyadh (on sale for like $5!).
And last but not least, a couple truffles to end things on a sweet note.
Tonight’s selections were a strawberry truffle (the round one) and a creme brulee truffle (the other one). I have not had a bad one yet, and I’m saving all my favorites for the end.
That’s all for tonight. Hope you guys have a great weekend!
