Salad, veggies, and restaurants, oh my!

by spiceaholic on January 27, 2010

Usually for me,  salad and veggies do not go in the same sentence as restaurants unless I’m saying “I don’t like to order salads and veggies at restaurants.”  But as you will see, there will be salads and veggies being eaten IN restaurants today.

Day 3 of me getting up early to workout!  Yay! I didn’t want to get up today, and I debated giving in, but then thought that if I gave in on day 3, then it was just going to be harder every day after that.  So I got up.  I did yet another WATP dvd today, but didn’t like this one — the quality wasn’t there and I didn’t really break a sweat.  I did some yoga afterwards to stretch out my legs.

I bet you can guess what breakfast was.

Today I had a lunch date with a former manager I worked with 2 jobs ago. I actually ended up meeting up with her and a few more former colleagues, so it was a nice little get-together. We met at The Real Chow Baby, which is one of those create-your-own stir-fry places. There are 2 locations in Atlanta and this is one of my favorite places to eat precisely because I can pick out everything down to the sauces and spices and someone else cooks it for me. It’s fun to go with people who know how to cook because you can get good ideas and it’s equally fun to go with people who don’t know how to cook and don’t know what goes together and then you get to watch them eat weird combinations. I’m such a meanie!

I wish I could have taken a “before” picture of my bowl before it went off to be cooked. Such bright colors! I had brown rice, some rice noodles, all sorts of veggies, a cocktail of sauces I can’t remember, and plenty of protein.

It’s started getting cold again here, and I felt like some hot cocoa this afternoon. One of my friends gave me this awesome basket of goodies for my birthday including the blueberry scone mix I used to make scone-muffins, an assortment of hot cocoa, and lemon curd.

This hit the spot, since I was craving chocolate as well.

Then later on in the afternoon I needed another snack.

I forgot how much I like peanut butter. And this isn’t even the healthy kind, it’s Kroger’s peanut butter and honey which is pretty dang sweet.

I had to stick around a little later this evening since I had a long lunch break and because they were upgrading our computers and stuff — we finally got our dual monitors set up! At my other jobs we had 2 monitors each, which made it easy when preparing returns since we could have last year’s info up on one screen and this year’s info on the other.

Mr. Spice was in the area so we decided to meet up for dinner at F2O (plus I had a coupon):

See the cheese, tortilla strips, and chicken strip pieces? Now THAT is what makes a good salad. 🙂

It is COLD downstairs, so I’m going to hurry up and get comfy in bed under all my blankets.  Have a good night!

I love Cost Plus…the only downfall is that I buy too much stuff!

Chow Baby looks awesome! I love eating salads that are unique and this one looks very different!

I so agree that desi in-laws can be so difficult to get along with. I really lucked out!

I am telling ya, I come by Atlanta pretty often and I am definitely going to try this stir fry place!

I really shouldn’t be allowed near World Market, I can get into A LOT of trouble there! 🙂

Mara — let me know if you ever want me to pick up something from there for you.

Priyanka — next time you’re in Atlanta we should try to meet up!
