Thanks for your supportive comments yesterday! It helped put things into perspective.
If you’re looking for lots of pictures in today’s post, sorry to disappoint you! 🙂
Today was my first day back after having 5 days off. I could easily have taken another 5 days off, but when you’re working as a contractor and getting paid hourly, not working = not getting paid. But the good news is that is going to change! More about that in a later post.
Despite my intention to get up early so I could get to work earlier than I usually do (between 9 and 9:30), I instead woke up around 4 or 5 and didn’t fall back asleep until an hour later and then ended up getting up later than my original set time. Got that? In other words, I ended up getting up at the same time I usually do and had to make a mad scramble out the door.
So instead of scarfing down my breakfast at home, I had to scarf it down at work since I was starving by then. I had one of my beloved breakfast sandwiches and forgot about taking a picture until I was halfway done eating it. By then it was all messy with the cheese and sauce dripping everywhere. I spared you the gore.
Want to guess what I had for lunch? Did you guess baked rotini? WRONG! I know, what a surprise! Instead, I had this:
You know, I have to say that it really isn’t that bad a picture, considering I took it on my phone.
I had packed a salad to go with whatever I decided on for my lunch entree. After lots of hemming and hawing this morning, I remembered we had some spicy chicken fillets in the freezer. And some spicy southwestern ranch dressing. Yum yum. This is the kind of salad I will gladly eat.
After eating, I ran some errands and popped into Kroger to pick up some emergency lunch items. Picked up some Morningstar veggie burgers and a few Lean Cuisines since they were on sale.
A couple hours later, I had one of these:
I don’t know about you, but when it gets to be late in the afternoon, I really need a good snack. Something with substance. Because I come in to work later, I really need something around 4 to last me another few hours until dinner. I’ve been trying to eat more protein at this time so it lasts me longer. So around 5, I had this:
Not the best picture, sorry! This is the last of my pepperjack sticks, the rest of the hunk of cucumber I brought for lunch, and a few pita chips. I’m afraid I didn’t endear myself to my coworkers when I brought in leftovers from our party on Friday — the key lime pie, vanilla creme cake, and a big old bag of pita chips. Oh well.
I’m afraid I don’t have any dinner pictures either. We were invited over to a friend’s house to watch Georgia Tech play in the Orange bowl and I didn’t really know any of the other people there so I didn’t want to take pictures of stuff. They made homemade pepperoni pizzas. The dough was from scratch — literally. They actually ground their own flour! It tasted pretty good! One of the couples brought salad, another brought an appetizer (some kind of yummy cheesy & sausage-y dip), and we brought dessert. I brought a chocolate bundt cake and an angel food cake — store bought, of course, since we were going right after work. Sadly, Tech was losing from the start and Mr. Spice and I took off at half-time. I had a slice of pizza, salad, a little bit of chips and dip, and a piece of angel food cake.
I just realized what time it is! It’s after midnight! Way past my bedtime. See you tomorrow!

You must be in food heaven with all the great food at the party. I am savoring a piece of pepper jack cheese as I am typing this comment 🙂
I was! I need to stock back up on my pepperjack cheese, thanks for the reminder!
