Thursday in neutrals

I have not been doing a very good job of getting fruits and veggies in . . . most of my foods yesterday were in the beige range.

Breakfast at work was a breakfast sandwich made with a Morningstar Garden Veggie patty instead of a breakfast sausage patty. Still tasty!

Mr. Spice and I had a lunch date yesterday and we ended up at Gordon Biersch.

I had the blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich with GB’s famous garlic fries. Oh so worth it. Can you see the tomato peeking out?

Having a huge lunch held me over the whole afternoon. I had a small snack around 5 finally:

This is called a Tarocco orange. I found them at Trader Joe’s. They are part of the blood-orange family but are a lighter and sweeter variety. Maybe it was the one I got, but it wasn’t exactly sweet. But it was really pretty to look at, almost like looking at a sunset.

Dinner was . . . something. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted, but I didn’t want to spend a bunch of time on it. I also didn’t want to buy it, since we haven’t been so good about that this week. Ahem. So much for saving money last week by not doing groceries. Anyway, it’s a little weird for dinner, but it worked for me.

I made a couple fried egg sandwiches, and added pepperjack and hot sauce to them.

Oh but that’s not all. It was most likely because there were fries involved at lunch, but I really wanted fries again last night. Well too bad, since we didn’t have any at home. We did have potatoes though.

I nuked one up and sprinkled it with some jal jeera seasoning. Now this seasoning is used to make a summery-type drink in India. All I know is that I like the seasoning better as a seasoning for foods. It has a very tart and spicy taste that I don’t think I would like in a drink. Imagine a cuminy/lemony/tart/sour/salty taste. Yeah, I like it better sprinkled on popcorn and potatoes.

And then a little bit of ice cream as we watched Grey’s Anatomy. I love how Mr. Spice mocks some of my shows but then ends up getting sucked into the drama of them. The Hills, check. Private Practice, check. Real Housewives of Atlanta, check. I think we’ll be adding Grey’s Anatomy to that list soon.

Remember, you still have until Monday night to enter for your chance to win a $25 grocery gift card! I’ve really enjoyed reading everybody’s grocery savings tips!

Yum that sandwich looks delicious! And the orange is very pretty! I hate when I get bad fruit! There’s no way to know w/ some of them until you cut in.

Oh man, Johnny hates my shows. He can’t even be in the room when I’m watching The Hills or 16 & Pregnant.

Ali totally mocks my shows but then ends up loving them, i.e. America’s Next Top Model. Too funny!

Too bad your sister has a boyfriend…would love to get my brother together with a nice Indian girl. 🙂

My husband mocks my ‘Fringe’, ‘Castle’ and ends up watching with me……..making cynical comments throughout the show, yes, but watching all the same 😀
P.S: I finally caught up with all your posts this week. You are actually doing very well with your eating…don’t let the weigh-in at WW meetings bring you down. It’s really good you’ve started exercising in the mornings. That helps a lot. There was this period of time when I ate well but did not exercise…although I lost a little weight, my body fat remained the same. In fact, I managed to lose some muscle mass… exercising along with a healthy diet is very important too.
Would you believe it if I told you I haven’t exercised in more than a month now…..and have been eating like crazy……and gained 20 lbs(that’s 1/5th of extra Nabeela I have hanging around me). I’m not kidding, I swear. That’s me right now…sigh.
So if you compare yourself to me, you are doing a fabulous job 🙂

Christina — Mr. Spice will deign to be in the same room as my inferior TV choices, but he will mock away and will try to flip channels at commercials.

Ameena — she’d be a nice Bengali girl, but I’m sure that’s okay too. 😀

Nabeela — SO good to see you! Mr. Spice actually likes Fringe and Castle and got me hooked on them! I’m going to email you to catch up on stuff.
