Daily Bites – 7/15/14

by spiceaholic on July 15, 2014

Okay, so staying up past midnight to finish binge-watching season 2 of Hemlock Grove on Netflix was a baaaaad idea. I realized this as soon as I tried to get up this morning. I’m definitely officially old.

Today I was supposed to work out of our Cartersville office.  Unless I’m planning to be there quite a few days I don’t keep any food there, so planning my eats on those days can be a bit tricky.  In desperate need of caffeine, I hit the drive-thru at McDonald’s on the way up for a large Coke Zero and a Sausage McMuffin.  It’s not the worst thing on the menu and keeps me full until lunch.  I just can’t do this every day.

Usually when I’m up in Cartersville I end up going out to lunch with coworkers, unless I’m slammed during tax time, when I end up buying frozen crap to eat while I work.  Last night I managed to pack my lunch so all I had to do was grab it on the way out.  The restaurant selection up there is kinda on the meh side so I really wasn’t missing anything by bringing lunch today. Except maybe gossip, but I can get that without going out to lunch!

Lunch today was a Greek turkey burger, spinach, whole wheat couscous, and carrot chips.  Once again I didn’t eat my berries. If I don’t eat them tomorrow, they’re getting tossed.  But they sure look pretty in my lunch.

Remember how I stayed up late watching tv? Yes, so that finally hit me this afternoon.  I had to make a Starbucks run for a cool lime refresher.  I love these during summer!  The venti is only 80 calories which is not too bad for  a big drink.

So although I didn’t like last night’s yogurt, today’s wasn’t horrible.  It tasted much better and the texture was a bit better.  But I still prefer my Fage 2% blood orange.  Especially with a few dark chocolate chips mixed in.  Yum.

Dinner was some leftover sockeye salmon baked with jerk seasoning, baby spinach, and whole wheat couscous.  And some spicy lime pickle to perk things up.

I got snacky after dinner.  I’ve got Pirate’s Booty in the little measuring bowl — this one holds 3/4 cup in half the bowl and 1.5 cups for the whole bowl. One serving filled up the bowl.  I love love love Cadbury chocolate from outside the U.S., so when I saw Flake bars at the Indian grocery store I snatched up a few.  One bar is about 175 calories which isn’t too bad.  This really could have been worse — most days I’d probably snarf down the whole bag of Pirate’s Booty and eat more chocolate to chase it down.  I went a bit over my calories today but I was under yesterday, so it balances out.

Good night!
