Weight Watchers introduced a new program earlier this week. It’s the next evolution in their previous Points-based plan and I am excited about the changes. I lost almost 25 lb. on Weight Watchers in 2002, so I know it works. Now I’ve put that back on and much more since then, but that’s not their fault, I’m solely to blame. I got cocky and thought I could do it on my own, got burnt out on the program, and had lots of life changes and big events go on and I ate to deal with them.
But something about this plan just appeals to me. I like that the points are now based on fat, protein, carbohydrates, and fiber, since that gives a more realistic picture of what you’re eating. I think I also like that since everything is being calculated differently, it’s like you’re being forced to start over. A fresh start. A clean slate.
I’ve started over so many times, but my mind and heart weren’t into it. This is the first time I’ve felt excited about it in a long time, so I’m going with it for now.
So with that being said, I’m going to work on making this MY plan and try to have fun with it.
I would love any and all encouragement! 😀
Here are my eats for today – I will try to do these as often as I can without making it feel like I’m posting them just to post something.
Breakfast:
A packet of instant oatmeal with fresh blueberries, Splenda, and some cinnamon sprinkled on later.
For some protein, a Morningstar Hot & Spicy veggie breakfast patty, a slice of Kraft 2% pepperjack, and hot sauce. Basically the filling of my favorite breakfast sandwich.
Lunch:
2 slices of Pizza Hut thin-crust pizza with hamburger, green pepper, and mushrooms, along with some steamed cauliflower and broccoli.
Snack:
Baked sour cream and cheddar Ruffles – I had the salty munchies this afternoon! Good thing I’d measured out a portion and brought only that amount.
Dinner:
2 baby bean and cheese burritos made with Old El Paso spicy fat-free refried beans, Kraft 2% pepperjack, and 2 small low-carb tortillas. A lot of lettuce and tomatoes on the side, along with some tortilla chips and salsa. I’m stuffed and still have 2 points left to meet my daily target.
Don’t forget to check out the re-caps of our China trip! I’ve only re-capped Shanghai so far, here and here, so stay tuned for the rest!

I too, lost a lot of weight with WW (in 2001-2002). 35 lbs to be exact, just a few pounds away from my ultimate goal (I was into a size 5/6 at age 40) and like you I got cocky and felt like I could manage on my own from there. Well, that turned out to be a big fat lie. Quitting WW and retiring from the military (and regimented exercise and weight standards) I gained all that weight, actually doubled it. I’ve wanted to get back into it….but excuses abound. I’ll be following you…looking for inspiration!
That looks like such a healthy combination of meals!! Kudos to you for “starting over” – I think it’s great! 🙂 Good luck and stick with it!!
@Rhonda and @Anjali — thank you for the support! It really means a lot to me. 🙂
