Super Blah

by spiceaholic on February 7, 2010

I have just been off the whole day.   Mother Nature can keep her crappy gift and that’s all I’m going to say about it.

Before I talk about today’s eats, I’d like to back to up to dinner last night.   Mr. Spice and I went to our friend Lopa’s place for some dinner with our other friend Angela and some Beatles Rock Band to round things off.

As usual, dinner was awesome.  It was typical yummy homemade Bengali food.

Starting from 12 o’ clock: rice, dal, potato tikki (Angela’s contribution), chicken and potato curry, begun bharta (spicy eggplant mash), and mango pickle.  I stuffed myself and then went back for seconds.

After dinner we broke out the Wii and played some Beatles Rock Band.  Well, us girls played, while Mr. Spice sat absorbed in his iPhone.  We took turns with guitar and drum duty and I abstained from singing since I am painfully tone-deaf.  This fact was confirmed by Mr.  Spice.  Hmmph.  This was a really fun game though and I hope we play it again soon. Hint, hint.  🙂

So now  onto today.

The morning started off well with a breakfast sandwich and grapes. I was going to be experimenting with making a chicken korma in the crockpot and had to fortify myself beforehand.

By the way, if you ever need a great torture device, just make someone slice onions. Wow. My eyes were stinging and I was blinded by tears. It’s gotten worse over the past couple years since I have dry eyes due to abusing my contact lenses. I had to stop a couple times and rinse my eyes with cold water. I usually make Mr. Spice handle onions, but he was busy snoozing away.

Anyway, experiment safely cooking away in the slow cooker, I rested up a bit before making myself some lunch.

Nothing fancy. Just some chicken breast, Korean hot and spicy ramen, and veggies.

After some more laziness, the chicken was finally done.

Looks can be deceiving. And so can scents. This looked and smelled great, but it was not tasting great. I over-cooked the chicken, so it was falling off the bones and dry and the chicken was bland. And it didn’t even turn out like a korma, it looked like a curry. I’m not posting the recipe since it wasn’t what I intended.

Lots of salt and spicy vegetable pickles made it edible. I hate when stuff doesn’t come out right and there are tons of leftovers.

Oh well, enough with the whining.  I have some  TV to watch and some books to read.   Not a bad way to end the day!

Well, you’re right, the chicken definitely looked good. I love chicken korma. We recently went to a brewery and they served korma. It was so good. I’ve never attempted to make it myself. Your dinner the night before looks amazing.

Hey Jasmine! I have a pretty easy chicken korma recipe if you’re interested in making it. Check it out in the recipe tab.
