The new kid in the cube

Yup, that’s me!

I started my new job today — it’s a contract position for this upcoming fall tax deadline.  If it goes well and they think I’m a good fit then it might go permanent.  Although I’m still doing taxes, it’s not at a CPA firm, but a company owned by a bank.  I’m excited about it.  Of course, I’ll miss my unexpected time off, but it’s also good to be back out there.

Anyway, so I’ll try my best to keep taking pics when I can, but I make no guarantees, especially as I start working overtime again.


I started off the day with some Honey Nut Cheerios, some light vanilla soymilk, and some orange juice. I wanted strawberries with my cereal, but they were getting fuzzy. I really should quit buying them from Kroger, they seem to go bad faster.

No lunch pictures since I didn’t pack one. Some of the managers took me out and I’m not about to whip out a camera and take pics in front of people I just met a few hours ago! We decided on Corner Bakery for lunch — I’ve had boxed lunches catered from here at trainings and stuff and like their food. If I’d had more time to decide I probably would have chosen something lighter, but I ordered the first thing that sounded good — the half sandwich/soup combo. I got half of the Bavarian turkey sandwich (turkey, havarti, tomatoes, and pretzel bread) and some of the chicken tortilla soup. This also came with chips, which I did NOT demolish! And one of the managers ordered this baby chocolate bundt cake for us to split, so I had 1/6 of it.


As you can see, I was trying to plan ahead for today and packed a few snacks since I wasn’t sure what the lunch plans were going to be. I only ended up eating the grapes and almonds.


By the time I got home, it was almost 7 and after I changed, caught up on emails, etc. it was already close to 8! Yikes! Luckily we had some leftover fake chicken pullao for dinner. I call it fake pullao because it’s based on my ultra-shortcut method where I brown onions, garlic, ginger, then add spices (usually just cheat and use a pre-prepared spice mix), then add chicken and rice and let it all cook together. Yesterday I didn’t even use onions and I used a chicken curry mix instead of one of the many pullao mixes I have. Um and I totally had seconds, piggy little me.


And last but not least, I had a few of these coconut-flavored M&Ms while watching TrueBlood. Okay, if you haven’t tried these yet, please do so! But only if you like that Almond Joy taste, or else leave them for me. 🙂

I love m&ms and almond joy is one of my favorite candy bars. I’ll be on the lookout for these.
